How can we improve the interaction between our fingers and touch screens?
Metal mesh technology
Touch panel technology has been widely adopted in all kinds of electronic equipment. You will find it in personal computers, industrial equipment and smartphones. What all these touch panels have in common is the need for transparent films that react to the touch of our fingers. The touch panel market needs solutions that ensure high durability and good transmittance. Currently often ITO (indium tin oxide) film or glass is used.
As touch panels get larger, lowering resistance becomes more and more important. Fujifilm developed a new conductive film for capacitive touch panels. A simple PET film with a silver mesh pattern on both sides has been developed utilizing Fujifilm’s silver halide photographic technology. This result in a highly transparent and highly sensitive film, while maintaining a low resistance. The conductive film is thin and flexible, enabling 3D forming and simple touch panel modulation processes.
